Hello, my name is David Gillbanks

home - PATA's Sustainable Tourism Wiki

Home town
: Born in Lae, Papua New Guinea;
Educated in Perth, Western Australia; Now in Bangkok, Thailand.

I started this wiki because: There is a need for an ongoing effort to harness the collective intelligence of the travel and tourism industry. Bringing together all the disparate approaches to enhancing the triple (or quadruple!) bottom line, as well as confronting threats such as climate change, should assist all stakeholders in their individual and organisational efforts to tread as lightly as they can to a prosperous and sustainable future.

My specific sustainable tourism-related interests are: Facilitating ongoing dialogue and information- and best practice-sharing among all stakeholders in travel and tourism. I am NOT an expert in sustainable tourism.

My sustainable tourism-related hero(es): The present and past members of PATA's Sustainable Tourism Advisory Committee, particularly those who year-in and year-out dedicate their time and resources to attend meetings and keep the flame of sustainable tourism burning bright in the Association.

What else you should know about me: Please visit www.newmedia.pro and my blog www.newmediamania.com.

SAY HELLO! Comment below, or send me a private message.
More importantly, PLEASE CONTRIBUTE to this wiki!

I'm awe struck by the caliber of folks on this site. I write regional travel in Middle America. I'm thinking this is the very best time to travel. When there is a slump, that means the lines are shorter and your choices for transportation and accommodations are greater.
Do you find this valuable?
