I joined this wiki because: I believe that the only way to attain the UN millienium development goals in developing countries is through addressing the problems of local communities of livelihood and education.
I would like to contribute my small bit by applying my own knowledge to help develop knowledge and disseminate it to the masses related to the subject.

Enterpreneuriship development amongst SMEs and sustainable tourism are two approaches that would be adopted in conjunction with education and strategy planning for overall inclusive development by me.

What else you should know about me:

I am an gold medalist Electronics and Communications Engineer with 23 years of experience.
Been running a consulting company for last 9 years, with clear focus on utilising ICT for the benefit of businesses.
Have done some award winning work in eGovernance, in form of knowledge portals for SMEs and Finance (Projects were recipients of Golden Icon award in eGov. 2005 & 2007).
Was the only receipient from India (amongst 20 in the world) to receive the first ever Master card scholarship for women to upgrade the knowledge and skills in Tourism/Travel industry in 2006. Have just finished the programme from U21Global (a consortium of 21 universities to offer their courses in elearning mode).
My work in this area of sustainable tourism has been more confined to raise awareness, marketing and promoting the cause in the state of UTTRANCHAL. Continued efforts for last 8 years has seen substantial results in Uttranchal and UNDP has adoped the state for its tourism development.
Some of the projects in which I was a consultant are - ANANDA SPA (the first destination health spa in India), CORBETT HIDEAWAY (Leisure Hotels) for supporting and developing capacities to promote ecotourism.
My current challenge is to look at eLearning to spread awareness and promote ecotourism, Sports Tourism and Health Tourism in India and Asia.
