I joined this wiki because: I've been interested in sustainable / responsible tourism for years, and I want to understand how we can achieve this - and perhaps even help communities / governments achieve it.

My specific sustainable tourism-related interests are: I work in various parts of Asia, but my longest involvement has been in Indonesia. I worked in the travel industry until 5 years ago and now lecture in and research tourism.

My sustainable tourism-related hero(es):The British explorer and naturalist Alfred Russell Wallace (1823-1913). He spent 8 years travelling to remote places in the Malay archipelago without planes, cars, imported food - or the telephone or the Internet!
