Editor/Admin	Let's Stamp out Identity Theft Oct 17 2008, 12:20 AM EDT Dear Wiki members, Over the past 24 hours someone registered on our Wiki using the name and photograph of one of PATA's respected staff members. Using the identity of the PATA staffer, he/she/they then created a discussion thread about an illegal activity, and in the body of the message stated that my colleague was an "active participant" in that activity. This is mischief at best, identity theft and libel at worst. If you suspect that someone is passing themselves off as another person and in the process damaging the reputation of that person, please send a message to all moderators immediately. On the forum I maintain I only grant permission to participate to people who I have been in contact. Sadly, this dilutes the base of support but it's the only way to keep the forum free of spammers. Please give it up! It takes a lot less effort for me to ban your new profiles and delete your threads and postings than it takes for your to create them. I'll continue to delete your rubbish forever, if that what it takes. In the meantime, you are spoiling the tone of an online community that has come together in good faith to forward the agenda of sustainable tourism and share information and best practice. We are investigating the source of these inappropriate and unjustifiable comments and we are doing everything possible to stop this childish behaviour. Participation in this Wiki is now invitation-only. Those who are now moderators or above can invite trusted friends and colleagues to join the site by using the "Invite" feature.
